Where the Chemistry Happens…
We are looking for a Material Handler like you to join our team As a Material Handler, you will perform duties in the receiving and shipment of bulk goods in solid or liquid form by rail and/or truck. As part of the team you will also collaborate with general yard work and minor maintenance as required. Join our team and make a tangible impact on BASF´s success.
Formula for Success: You Will…
- Have knowledge of: operation of centrifugal and positive-displacement pumps, operation of steam systems and traps, using nitrogen to purge transfer lines and blanket tanks or tankers, mechanical aptitude for assembling fittings and lines for various tasks, propane lift truck operation, etc.
- Physical demands of position include frequent climbing of stairs and fixed ladders for storage tanks, handling of empty drums and small packaged materials, wearing personal protective equipment including full-face respirator, lifting and handling large hoses and loading lines for transfer of liquids, working in outdoor environment.
- Perform various yard duties including packaging product in totes and/or drums, cleaning of spills, general housekeeping, snow removal, etc.
- Perform minor tasks requiring tools such as installing or removing spades and gaskets, changing lightbulbs, assembling fittings for connection of hoses and trucks, etc.
- Participate in 7-Element safety reviews/meetings with supervisor on a monthly basis.
- Adhere to policies and procedures to ensure effective contribution to the ISO 9001 Quality Management System.

- Minimum of Grade 12 education along with one year of post-secondary technical training.
- Previous experience in a chemical industry (asset).
- Ability to work effectively in a small, select group.
