We are currently recruiting a Nurse Practitioner to provide comprehensive, integrated, and trauma-informed care at our Urgent and Primary Care Centre located in Mission, B.C.
UPCC’s are dedicated to delivering timely, person-centred, culturally safe, trauma informed longitudinal and urgent primary care. Our model of care offers holistic team-based care by supporting physicians, nurse practitioners, nurses, social workers, clinical counsellors, allied health professionals and administrative support. Together this team will extend continuous care that will be intentional and coordinated to all members of the community, including the vulnerable and medically complex.
Situated on a coastal mountain slope overlooking the lush valley of the Fraser River, Mission is a rapidly growing rural centre. Its magnificent mountains, idyllic meadows and natural forest settings blend well with a hometown feeling. A beautiful Fraser Valley community with unique cultural roots, Mission is the site of British Columbia’s first rail link to the United States.
This is a great opportunity for a new Nurse Practitioner to join a well supported fellowship program to help consolidate clinical skills. Be part of our clinical enhancement program with regular in-house skills development such as suturing and x-ray interpretation in addition to receiving centralized NP orientation.
This position will also have a new and exciting postgraduate up to 6-month nurse practitioner residency program. FH is the first health authority to implement a formal residency program for NPs in the province, which will be key to supporting the development of NPs and practice-readiness in select programs. You will receive in depth in house advanced training within a clinical area relevant to the position, improve your team collaboration and develop a model of patient centred care. This is your opportunity to consolidate your nurse practitioner education with a team helping to support your successful transition into independent practice.

Supporting the Vision, Values, Purpose and Commitments of Fraser Health including service delivery that is centered around patients/clients/residents and families:
The Nurse Practitioner is responsible and accountable for the comprehensive assessment of patients/clients/residents including diagnosing diseases, disorders, and conditions. The Nurse Practitioner initiates treatment including health care management, therapeutic interventions and prescribes medications in accordance with the statutory and regulatory standards, limits, and conditions, and employer policies and procedures. The Nurse Practitioner provides professional guidance to other health professionals and practices autonomously and interdependently within the context of an interdisciplinary health care team, making referrals to specialist physicians and others as appropriate.
The position collaborates with patients/clients/residents and other health professionals to identify and assess trends and patterns that have implications for patients/clients/residents, families and communities; develops and implements population and evidence based strategies to improve health and participates in policy-making activities that influence health services and practices. The position participates in peer review and self review to evaluate the outcome of services at the patient/client/resident, community and population level.
