Job Details

The Advisor, People and Culture supports an assigned portfolio in the areas of recruitment, onboarding/offboarding, training and development, succession planning, employee and labour relations, performance management and disability management support.  

The Advisor, People and Culture provides timely advice, guidance, coaching and information to the employees, supervisors and managers in accordance with professional human resources practices, corporate policies and procedures, and labour legislation/regulations.

Qualifications

This position requires the completion of a post secondary program in Human Resources plus 5 years of related experience.  Must have a general knowledge and understanding of Human Resources functions, including recruitment and job evaluation, training and development and employee and labour relations. CHRP designation would be an asset. 

Working knowledge of employment and labour legislation (e.g. Ontario Human Rights Code, the Employment Standards Act, the Ontario Labour Relations Act, Occupational Health & Safety Act). Ability to interpret and apply collective agreements.  Demonstrated work experience providing coaching and advice.  Well developed administrative, organizational and time management skills.  Flexible in meeting the demands of a heavy workload and can work independently or as a member of a team.  Excellent communication skills (verbal and written), interpersonal, analytical and research skills. Proficient in the use of computer applications such as advanced word processing, spreadsheets and database applications. A demonstrated commitment to customer service excellence and continuous improvement.

What We Offer You

For long term temporary assignments, we currently offer the following:

Rate of Pay: $56.67- $61.94 per hour

Hours of Work- This is a 12-month contract non-union position that works 35 hours per week.

Benefits: The City offers Temporary full-time staff a benefit package with paid vacation days, Health & Dental benefit coverage, Employee & Family Assistance Program and a defined benefits pension plan (OMERS).
