Overview Drivers wanted for our Community Transportation Service. Are you looking for a rewarding part-time job? Chester Community Wheels needs you Do you have a Class 4 driver's license with driving experience transporting passengers? Qualities for our team members include safe operations and maintenance of our Community Fleet of 6 vehicles. This position requires you to work independently and as part of a team. A desire to provide prompt excellent customer service is essential. Availability to work a variety of times and days, on a part-time basis. Our Office/ Base is located at 23 Collicutt Rd, East Chester NS, B0J 1J0. DUTIES: Driving/ Fleet: Safety operates commercial vehicles. Maintain awareness of vehicle maintenance and inspection requirements. Stay up to date on the rules of the road. Adhere to commercial vehicle and Motor Carrier regulations. Operate vehicles in a manner considerate of frail passengers. Operate vehicles in various road conditions. Operate wheelchair ramps/lifts, other passenger safety equipment – including pushing a loaded wheelchair up a ramp. Complete daily vehicle checks. Complete daily drivers report and maintain drivers' logs. Sanitize vehicles daily, and clean thoroughly as needed. Report maintenance/ repair requirements to Fleet Coordinator/ Dispatcher/ Executive Director as needed. Riders: Significant interaction with the public. Sensitivity to passengers' various medical conditions and vulnerabilities. Present a courteous and professional manner. Be kind and respectful. Other: Remain calm under pressure or in stressful situations. Work both independently and as part of a team. Attend all training sessions provided by CW (i.e., First Aid, Inclusion Training) Attend all CW drivers' meetings. Manage a tight travel schedule. Bending, stretching and lifting. Qualifications Minimum Class 4 driver's license (unrestricted) Clear Motor Vehicle Drivers Abstract that is satisfactory to our insurance underwriters. Clear Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check. Clear Child Abuse Registry Check. Valid First Aid and CPR certificate or commitment to obtain. Experience in commercial driving transporting passengers considered an asset. Experience operating accessible vehicles is considered an asset. Experience with wheelchair users, intellectually challenged, and/or physically vulnerable persons considered an asset. Emergency Intervention and conflict resolution training considered an asset. Benefits: $17.34 hourly starting wage is increased to $19.38 per hour after the probation period. 4% Vacation Pay. Shift Premiums for hours worked in the evenings, on weekends and on holidays.
