Are you an experienced and adaptable Bookkeeper looking to contribute your skills to dynamic organization with a long-standing presence in Halifax, NS? Our client is seeking a motivated and flexible professional to join their team on an eight-month fixed-term contract.

The successful candidate will play a key role in liaising with an external accounting services firm while providing in-house, day-to-day bookkeeping.

Key Responsibilities for the Job:

  • Full cycle bookkeeping (invoicing, payment processing, vendor relations, bank deposits)
  • Reconciliations
  • Payroll processing (both permanent & seasonal staff)
  • Financial analysis
  • Monthly reporting as needed
  • Act as liaison between external accounting firm, board of directors, and management
  • Other accounting and administrative duties as assigned
Skills & Attributes for Success:
  • Post-secondary education in accounting or bookkeeping
  • 2+ years similar experience as an accounting technician or bookkeeper
  • Experience with QuickBooks Office and/or PayWorks is ideal
  • Proficient in MS Excel, Word and Outlook and quick to learn new systems and databases
  • Excellent attention to detail and organization skills with the ability to work in a changing environment
  • Self-motivated and ability to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Strong communication skills with a professional approach
