Process Engineer – Flare and Overpressure Relief Systems Location: Edmonton, Alberta Duration: 2‑year contract (January 2026 – January 2028) Work Type: Onsite, full‑time We are seeking a senior‑level Process Engineer to provide technical assurance and process safety support for flare and overpressure relief systems within a major upgrader operation. The role will focus on safeguarding critical process equipment, leading risk assessments, and ensuring compliance with industry codes and standards. Responsibilities include: PRV/PVSV sizing and overpressure relief evaluations Flare system design and contractor guidance Facilitation of PHAs, HAZOPs, LOPAs, Bowties, and other risk workshops Assurance for pumps, tanks, and pressure vessels Fire, explosion, and dispersion modelling (FRED, PHAST or equivalent) Mentoring junior engineers and supporting commissioning/start‑up activities Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering 7+ years of process safety/engineering experience in refining, upgrading, or petrochemicals APEGA P.Eng. designation required, with ability to authenticate engineering work Familiarity with HYSYS, Unisym, Flarenet Strong knowledge of API/ASME codes and standards Proven facilitation, communication, and leadership skills
