Director of Medical Equipment Maintenance

Reporting directly to the Executive Director of Mental Health and Addiction Services within Health PEI; The director collaborates and supports divisional priorities identified by the leadership team, including active and ongoing participation in strategic and systemic changes. The Director of Facilities Supports is responsible for leading and overseeing the various departments required to maintain a safe and healthy patient experience. The Director will be responsible for all MH&A business functions including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, medical records, environmental services, nutritional supports, and maintenance support departments as well as maintaining high level supervision for external contracts that are carried out on the MH&A Campus and within other MH&A facilities (I.e. security, plumbing, electrical contractors). Ensure all Facilities staff are aware of and strive to meet Health PEI’s vision, mission and values; Ensure staff are knowledgeable of and work to the highest standards of service through development and maintenance of professional development plans for all staff; Accountable for overall administrative responsibility for a budget of $4.9 million and approximately 44 FTE. The staff mix includes dietary, service workers, maintenance, and business administrative personnel; Work to ensure all facilities have the materials required to operate and effectively deliver services; Work in partnership with ITSS and CIS staff to ensure all hardware, IT infrastructure, wiring and other technological requirements exist in all sites to meet programming needs; Participate in appropriate scoping of system requirements to ensure the software, hardware and integration builds meet divisional needs and work effectively throughout MH&A; Manage security contracts for MH&A services across existing and new facilities. Ensure contract obligations are fulfilled, and that no lapses in security coverage occur. Work with security lead to mitigate risks, staff and patient concerns as well as concerns or gaps identified by the security staff employed at various sites; Actively assess, manage, and mitigate risk within the division on an ongoing basis as well as during change initiatives with respect to current and required infrastructure; The Director, as a member of the Senior Leadership Team, will work collaboratively with other members to ensure the effective implementation of MH&A programs and services; Effectively lead Emergency Management and all Hazards Planning for the MH&A facilities / sites ensuring required disaster management practices are in place. Participate on interview panels when required and recruit necessary staff for environmental, nutrition or administrative services. A university degree in Business, Engineering or a related discipline. Master’s degree is preferred. Management and leadership training (through formal education or in addition to). Must have extensive management and/or administrative experience in a health setting where responsibilities included budgeting, finance, human resources and project management. Must have proven ability in planning and organizing multiple resources. Extensive knowledge of contract, tendering, and request for proposal processes. Strong interpersonal, organization, communication, collaboration, conflict resolution and team-building skills. Knowledge of the PEI Health System would be considered an asset. Bilingual proficiency not imperative, but would be considered an asset. Advanced Emergency management training would be considered an asset.
