Lead Plumber

Our partner, Bretoba Contracting, is currently seeking an experienced and reliable Lead Plumber (Red Seal) to join their team in Ingonish, Nova Scotia. This is a full-time, permanent, year-round (non-seasonal) opportunity for a seasoned plumbing professional who is ready to take a leadership role on high-quality residential and light commercial builds across rural Cape Breton. As the company continues to grow into project management and development, its leadership team also supports the operations of multiple businesses. Candidates must be willing to relocate to the Ingonish, NS area. OVERVIEW As Lead Plumber (Red Seal), you will take ownership of plumbing systems from rough-in to final finish on custom residential and light commercial projects. You’ll oversee and mentor apprentices, ensure that all installations meet code and quality standards, and contribute to estimating through quantities and material take-offs. Reporting to the site supervisors and project management team, you will play a key role in planning, coordinating, and executing plumbing work in alignment with overall project timelines and expectations. This role is ideal for a Red Seal–certified plumber who takes pride in precise, high-quality work, enjoys sharing their expertise with junior team members, and understands how well-planned plumbing systems contribute to the performance and comfort of a completed build. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Lead and execute all phases of plumbing installation and repair from rough-in to final fixture installation. Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications. Plan, coordinate, and complete material take-offs and plumbing order lists. Maintain high-quality workmanship standards, precision, and attention to detail in all work performed. Work collaboratively with site supervisors, project managers, and other trades to support overall project schedules. Ensure all plumbing installations comply with applicable codes, regulations, and safety standards. Supervise, support, and mentor apprentices and junior team members on best practices and safe work habits. Troubleshoot plumbing issues and provide practical solutions to keep projects on track. QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE Red Seal Plumber certification (required). Minimum 7 years of relevant plumbing experience. Experience working on residential and light commercial projects. Strong organizational and problem-solving skills. Ability to supervise and mentor junior team members in a respectful, supportive way. Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
