We are experiencing exponential growth in our presence in Canada. In 1998, it was awarded for the construction, operation, and maintenance project for the Fredericton-Moncton Highway. In 2011, it was awarded a section of the Toronto-York Spadina Subway extension, the first modern subway infrastructure project in the city. This project was completed in 2018.

FCC Construcción Canadá has won a new contract to deliver the Pape Tunnel and Underground Stations section of the Ontario Line, together with the GO Rail Expansion-On Corridor Project and the Scarborough Subway Extension Stations, Rail and Systems Project reinforces FCC Construcción’s presence in the Canadian market.

Project Opportunity

We are looking for an Interface Coordinator to join our FCC Canada team assigned to the Pape Tunnel and Underground Stations Project. This position is located in downtown Toronto.

Reports to:
Systems Director

The Interface Manager is responsible for managing the project interface process for the Pape Tunnel and Underground Stations project. Working closely with staff from all departments within the larger operations team as they work towards operational readiness, and with our project partners for wider scale interfaces. Proactively lead in undertaking systems integration processes, working closely with the interface managers to continuously look for ways to build and improve these processes by ensuring that the interfaces between all segments within the project are identified and controlled throughout the development phase.

The Interface Manager’s key responsibilities are:

  • Develop internal interface management process for the PNC team as well as Project wide interface management process.
  • Manage external interface obligations with the operation team partners.
  • Apply principles and processes as defined within ISO/IEC/IEEE 15288:
    2015 Systems and software engineering – System lifecycle processes, as well as other relevant codes and standards.
  • Identify, review, manage, audit and close out project interface related issues and other deliverables, working closely with staff from all departments within the Operations organization and with our project partners.
  • Develop and manage interface register and reporting system.
  • Developing and maintaining the Interface Control documents (ICD) with other project partners.
  • Facilitate and document clear communication between interface parties, including conflict resolution.
  • Ability to manage and coordinate complex, multi-faceted issues/tasks in a challenging environment that is schedule driven.
  • Identify and work with partners to acknowledge and agree key interfaces.
  • Manage monthly reporting on interface activities.
  • Attend progress or monthly meetings with relevant staff.
  • Participate in Interface Meetings as required to manage interfaces.
  • Supporting the project team in review of work packages and documents, obtaining signoffs as required.

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related field (Systems, Electrical, Computer engineering etc.)
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in rail and transit industry and minimum of 5 years of experience in system engineering domain is preferred.
  • Registered as an Engineer in Training (EIT) with Professional Engineers of Ontario or P. Eng. License
  • PMP certification is a plus
  • INCOSE certification is a plus
  • 5 years of experience working within the rail industry, including communication, and conflict resolution experience.
  • Experience in different phases of engineering design lifecycles (Proposal, PDR, IDR, FDR).
  • Experienced in the implementation of industry best practices for interface management

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Experienced in Systems integration and interface coordination in rail and transit projects
  • Knowledge of interfacing systems such as Signals/Train control, Communications, Traction power, SCADA, Tracks, Asset management system, Operations control center systems etc.
  • Able to apply sound judgment and analytical skills due to the complex and diversified nature of the position.
  • Expedite and elevate outstanding key interface issues.
  • Identify potential interface issues that may result in variation orders.
  • Perform effectively in a fast-paced, start-up environment – comfortable to act with uncertainty and able to create new systems, policies and procedures quickly and effectively with limited resources for quality and timely implementation.
  • Contribute to training and development of project staff.
  • Able to provide collaborative interface resolution support.
  • Ensures consistency in the project wide application of the Interface Management Procedure.
