Payroll Administrator

This is a remote, work-from-home position with occasional on-site requirements at our Head Office in North York. You will be expected to visit the office approximately once a month, as requested by the Payroll Manager, to assist with tasks such as processing incoming payroll mail, unloading print jobs, and organizing personnel records for filing and storage.
Position Overview:
We’re looking for an experienced, results driven, customer focused individual to join our payroll department further supporting our store teams across Canada as we continue to grow. As our Payroll Administrator your primary responsibilities will include processing the full cycle payroll which impacts over 1,700 Associates across Canada. The incumbent candidate should be a team player, quick learner, organized and have good time management skills.
Responsibilities:
- Process full cycle payroll biweekly for 1,700+ Associates (non-union, hourly and salaried).
- Perform various audits to ensure all issues are addressed before biweekly payroll commit.
- Process Off-Cycle payrolls as requested.
- Prepare Wire payments as required including manually calculating gross/net.
- Respond to internal and external emails, tickets and telephone queries.
- Respond to CRA and Service Canada requests for information.
- Generate ROEs for transmission to Service Canada with biweekly pay cycle.
- Process HR System audit reports daily and resolve identified issues.
- Action all POST payroll tasks in the offcycle week including reporting, system updates etc.
- Participate in year-end activities as required (adjustments, reporting, T4 distribution etc.).
- Import annual merit increases provided by Human Resources.
- Process provincial minimum wage increases, and applicable retro payments associated with salary and rate changes.
- Communicate rejected pay notifications to applicable associates with proposed solutions.
- Escalate tickets to payroll service provider to address system related issues.
- Liaise with the District and Store Managers to address associate pay-related issues.
- Prepare terminated associate personnel records for placement in payroll archive.
Requirements:
- 2 years’ experience in a payroll position.
- Payroll certification is required.
- Ceridian Dayforce HCM experience is preferred.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel is required (VLOOKUP, formulas etc.)
- Professional experience in the retail industry is an asset.
- Strong communication skills, verbal and written required.
- Knowledge of Provincial Employment Standards Act is an asset.
