Harvard is a full-service real estate management company based in Western Canada that is recognized for its reputation in leadership, flexibility, quality, and performance. The company oversees 9 million square feet of office, retail, and industrial properties throughout Western Canada, with offices in Winnipeg, Edmonton, Calgary, and Regina.

The position is primarily responsible to:

  • Adhere to role-specific responsibilities outlined in Harvard’s HSE Manual;
  • Assist with the continual development, implementation, adoption and adherence of Harvard’s HSE Program;
  • Perform formal HSE work site inspections and audits per established frequency for program and regulatory compliance (some travel may be required);
  • Assist with training staff and monitor their curriculum completion rates;
  • Assist with the development and assessment of safe work plans, practices and job hazard analyses;
  • Assist field staff and supervisors with site hazard assessments, provide coaching and mentoring in the hazard assessment process;
  • Assist with Investigating Health, Safety or Environment incidents in Saskatchewan and Manitoba, working with management to meet reporting requirements and with supervision to provide corrective actions;
  • Participate in OH&S Committee, Safety, Operations Meetings and Toolbox meetings with our Saskatchewan and Manitoba operational field teams.
  • Assist with administration of Harvard’s online learning management system, assist with creation of learning modules, marking and filing of safety related paper tests from HSE training, filing digital forms in our document management system
  • Assist management, field staff, and the HSE Team in the accomplishment of their duties such as onboarding and training personnel in HSE, assessment of safe work plans and site hazards, review of supplier compliance, etc.
  • Assist with scheduling and booking 3rd party training (e.g., Fall pro, AWP, and First Aid) with Saskatchewan and Manitoba portfolios
  • Assist with onsite orientations & start up meetings when required

Preference will be given to the individual that possess:

  • National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) or Health Safety Administrator (HAS) designation with a thorough understanding of codes, bylaws, legislation and regulation addressing health, safety and environment in the ownership, operation, maintenance and construction of real estate operations and assets within the assigned jurisdiction.
  • Effective communication and presentation skills with a strong command of the English language;
  • Proficiency in the use of the Microsoft office suite;
  • Experience in dealing with potentially difficult situations regarding HSE; and
  • Working knowledge of paperless safety software (e.g. BIS Trainer)
