My Client is seeking Cost Accountant. This is a pivotal role within the finance department working with multiple departments on inventory and costing issues that ensure the integrity and accuracy of the company’s financial performance.

The successful candidate should have meaningful exposure to cost accounting (using standard costs) in a manufacturing environment, have strong problem-solving skills, and work well with personnel at all levels in the organization.

Candidates should also be confident, professional, and meticulous with a keen interest in the cost-efficient operations of the company.

Complete tasks related to inventory and product costing, but not limited to:

- Build effect relationships and work closely with plant managers and plant accountants for each site.

- Validating which products are to be carried at standard cost and which products to be carried at average cost.

- Work with the Finance team at month-end to understand production cost variances for each plant and the drivers behind them.

- Reconcile daily production across multiple platforms, (Ignition, Epicor & Manual)

- Comprehensive review of job costs with the ability to investigate and understand variances.

- Effectively communicate any inventory reconciliation issues and make recommendations for

potential adjustments.

- Drive procedures around monthly physical inventory counts at plants and warehouses.

Implement practices to investigate variances and develop solutions to mitigate variances going

forward.

- Work closely with the Controller-East to review the Company’s standard costs and establish a

process to monitor manufacturing performance against standard costs.

- Maintain key cost accounting data in the Company’s ERP system including standard costs, run

time, work center overhead rates and labor costs.

- Set up parts including bills of materials and standard costs.

- Work closely with the Controller-East to ensure the accounting for manufacturing costs and

inventory complies with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

- Prepare product costing analysis for existing and new products to support pricing and financial

analysis.

- Review Bill of Material Changes to ensure they are reasonable and consistent with plant

management requests.

- Analyze manufacturing costs and prepare and review regular reports comparing standard cost

to actual costs.

- Monthly balance sheet reconciliation of inventory accounts between the GL and the subledger.

- Manage the ECOFIB inventory transactions with our partner Eco-Fib.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Work closely with the Vice President of Finance, Controller and the management team to complete manufacturing cost and gross margin budgets and forecasts.

- Provide management with reports that specify and compare factors that affect prices and

profitability of products or services. Analyze and recommend costs and cost savings.

- Oversee the conduct of physical inventory counts and monitor the cycle count program.

Work closely with the Plant Managers and Controller to understand the reasons for inventory

adjustments.

- Work with operations personnel to roll-out best demonstrated practices around inventory and

material handling procedures.

- Perform other duties or special projects as assigned by the Controller-East.

Qualifications :

- Minimum 3 years of Cost Accounting (standard costing environment) work experience (essential).

- Experience with Epicor or similar ERP (essential).

- Analytical thinker with strong conceptual and problem-solving skills.

- Meticulous attention to detail with superb organizational skills.

- Experience delivering accurate information under tight timelines.

- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

- Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

- Excellent attention to detail, organizational and prioritizing skills

- Advanced Excel User.

- Epicor experience would be an asset.

- Has integrity with an ability to handle confidential information.

- Bilingualism, English/French
