Robotics Technician – Hand/Gripper (Vancouver) Humanoid is the first AI and robotics company in the UK, creating the world’s most advanced, reliable, commercially scalable, and safe humanoid robots. Our first humanoid robot HMND 01 is a next-gen labour automation unit, providing highly efficient services across various use cases, starting with industrial applications. We are looking for a Senior Electrical Design Engineer to join our team based in Vancouver, CA. Our Mission At Humanoid we strive to create the world’s leading, commercially scalable, safe, and advanced humanoid robots that seamlessly integrate into daily life and amplify human capacity. Vision In a world where artificial intelligence opens up new horizons, our faith in its potential unveils a new outlook where, together, humans and machines build a new future filled with knowledge, inspiration, and incredible discoveries. The development of a functional humanoid robot underpins an era of abundance and well-being where poverty will disappear, and people will be able to choose what they want to do. We believe that providing a universal basic income will eventually be a true evolution of our civilization. Solution As the demands on our built environment rise, labour shortages loom. With the world’s workforce increasingly moving away from undesirable tasks, the manufacturing, construction, and logistics industries critical to our daily lives are left exposed. By deploying our general-purpose humanoid robots in environments deemed hazardous or monotonous, we envision a future where human well-being is safeguarded while closing the gaps in critical global labour needs. About the Role We are on a mission to redefine humanoid robotics by creating hands that mimic human dexterity, precision, and flexibility. As a Robotics Hand Technician , you will play a key role in assembling, testing, and validating cutting-edge robotic hands and grippers for our humanoid robots. This position requires strong technical expertise in robotic assembly, sensor calibration, and the ability to collaborate closely with engineers to troubleshoot and optimize robotic hand systems. If you’re passionate about hands-on work with high-tech robotic systems and contributing to the next generation of humanoid robots, we’d love to hear from you. What You’ll Do Assemble and integrate robotic hands and end-effectors, ensuring all components (actuators, sensors, and mechanical parts) function correctly together. Perform rigorous testing to evaluate the performance, dexterity, and precision of robotic hands. Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to hardware and software integration. Calibrate sensors, actuators, and tactile arrays to achieve optimal performance, focusing on precision and reliability in hand movements. Assist the R&D team in prototyping new robotic hand designs by providing feedback, assembling prototypes, and testing new components. Provide hands-on support for mechanical and electrical engineers in integrating sensors, actuators, and control systems into robotic hands. Document test results, system issues, failure analyses, and corrective actions. Create technical manuals and maintenance guides for robotic hand systems. Perform routine maintenance and upgrades on robotic hands, ensuring continuous improvements in performance and durability. Work closely with the mechanical, electrical, and firmware teams to address issues related to dexterity, grip strength, and sensor feedback. Maintain specialized tools, equipment, and components. Ensure that inventory levels of critical parts such as actuators and sensors are regularly checked and replenished. We’re Looking For Bachelor’s degree in Robotics, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field. 3+ years of experience in assembling, testing, and troubleshooting robotic systems, with a focus on precision mechanics and sensor integration. Technical Skills: 1. Strong proficiency in assembling robotic hands and integrating complex mechanical and electronic systems. 2. Hands-on experience with fine-pitch soldering, micro-wiring, and assembly techniques. 3. Familiarity with calibrating actuators, sensors, and control systems in robotic applications. Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work closely with cross-functional teams. Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to diagnose issues and implement corrective actions efficiently. High attention to detail in handling delicate components and ensuring precise assembly of complex systems. Nice To Have Background in humanoid robot development, particularly in hand/arm systems or robotic manipulation. Experience with rapid prototyping tools such as 3D printing, CNC machining, or laser cutting for robotic hand components. Familiarity with tactile sensors, force sensors, and other sensory technologies used in robotic hands. Knowledge or experience in designing for human-robot interaction, especially in contexts where robots need to handle delicate or interactive tasks. Experience working with specialized robotic testing equipment and tools, such as precision measuring instruments and test rigs.
