Our client is a Canadian, privately-owned company headquartered in North York. Reporting to the CEO, the VP, Finance will be responsible for leading the finance and administration functions of a key member of the leadership team and will work closely with other departments to ensure the success of the company.

Responsibilities:

- Manage financial operations of the company and guide financial decisions by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing policies and procedures

- Provide leadership for collaborative preparation of business plans, long-term financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and analysis

- Mentor and develop the finance team and other senior/department managers on raising awareness and knowledge of financial management matters

- Establish and execute internal controls over the company's accounting and financial procedures including responsibility for the company's financial statements, general ledger, cost accounting, billing/invoicing, payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, budgeting, tax compliance, and various special analyses

- Issue timely and complete monthly and annual financial statements in accordance with generally accepted accounting standards, including ASPE, and work with external accountants on annual Review Engagements

- Lead cash management activities and ensure adequate cash flow to meet the organization's needs and satisfy bank covenants as applicable. Improving cash flow through the identification of cost saving opportunities, pricing analysis and staff utilization etc.

- Ensure compliance with all business governance and tax regulations

- Provide financial analysis and insights to support business decisions, including developing and maintaining metrics and KPIs of the business

- Manage the company's legal operations, including trademarks, contracts, compliance, and regulatory maters. Work with outside counsel as required to manage legal maters

- Develop and maintain relationships with key personnel at all funding providers

- Coordinate the provision of information to external business stakeholders including accounting, tax, legal, commercial insurance and SR&ED service providers as well as external regulatory stakeholders including CRA, provincial and foreign jurisdictions

Requirements:

- Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in finance, business, or a related field

- CPA designation

- 10+ years of financial leadership experience, preferably with privately held companies

- Strong understanding of costing and inventory controls

- Excellent analytical, financial modelling, and forecasting skills

- Strong communication, leadership and management skills
