FCC Construcción has been present in Canada for more than 25 years, involved in innovative subway infrastructure work, such as the Highway 407 stations and Northern Tunnels for the Toronto York Spadina Subway Line Expansion, as well as the construction, operation, and maintenance of the Fredericton Moncton Highway.
We are experiencing exponential growth in our presence in Canada. In 1998, it was awarded for the construction, operation, and maintenance project for the Fredericton-Moncton Highway. In 2011, it was awarded a section of the Toronto-York Spadina Subway extension, the first modern subway infrastructure project in the city. This project was completed in 2018.
FCC Construcción Canadá has won a new contract to deliver the Pape Tunnel and Underground Stations section of the Ontario Line, together with the GO Rail Expansion-On Corridor Project and the Scarborough Subway Extension Stations, Rail and Systems Project reinforces FCC Construcción’s presence in the Canadian market.
Project Opportunity
We are looking for a Procurement Specialist to join our FCC Canada team assigned to the Pape Tunnel and Underground Stations Project.
This position is located in downtown Toronto.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Procurement Specialist plays a vital role in managing the procurement process, ensuring that project requirements are met efficiently and effectively. This position involves developing competitive procurement documents, scopes of work, and schedule commitments while applying expertise in subcontracts, purchasing, material control, expediting, and logistics. The specialist will support the procurement lead in coordinating with clients and collaborating with cross-functional teams to define roles and responsibilities.
The Procurement Specialist key responsibilities are:
- Develop competitive procurement documents, scopes, & schedule commitments.
- Familiar with procurement disciplines, including subcontracts, purchasing, material control, expediting, and logistics.
- Support the procurement lead with project coordination with the client
- Collaborate with teams to define, plan, and schedule procurement’s roles, responsibilities, abilities, and tasks.
- Assist in drafting up the required RFP/RFQ and identifying key suppliers.
- Communicate with suppliers on all critical procurement-related matters.
- Facilitate the implementation of business-specific contracts for services and/or materials.
- Successfully executes elements of the project procurement plan in accordance with approved corporate and or project policies, procedures, plans, strategies, and budgets.
- Prepare bid documents, bid tabulations, and selection recommendations. This includes preparing the sourcing strategy, bid packages, and supplier agreements and overseeing the development of the scope of work.
- Work collaboratively with key project stakeholders to ensure requirements are captured in the total cost-of-ownership solution.
- Manage vendors and internal stakeholders on all procurement-related matters.
- Contract negotiations and preparation, including issuing approval of contract documents, subcontracts, and purchase orders.
- Support the procurement team on daily activities as required.
EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Must have a bachelor’s degree, diploma in a related field.
- Minimum of 7 years of Procurement experience, ideally in the infrastructure/construction industry
- Technical depth of knowledge in the areas of construction-related materials and services.
- Strong communication, interpersonal and analytical skills.
- Effective time management skills, working well under pressure.
- Solid PC skills with MS Office and database tools.
- Strong organizational skills, rigorous and structured.
- Proven organizational skills and ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines and handle multiple tasks within a fast-paced work environment.
- Exceptional time management skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Technical knowledge in the areas of construction-related materials and services.
- Understanding of procurement principles, techniques, practices, and ethics.
- Knowledge of contract law, negotiating business agreements, and laws of requesting tenders, proposals, and quotations.
- Understanding of ERP systems, knowledge of SAP planning system would be an asset.
- Ability to analyze complex data and derive well-supported linear and non-linear premises.
