Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Mechanic is responsible for troubleshooting, servicing, and repairing powered equipment in the Distribution Centre. The Mechanic maintains powered equipment operation by completing inspections and preventive maintenance requirements, such as correcting vehicle deficiencies, making adjustments and alignments, and keeping records

Performs repairs and services on various types of material handling equipment and its components including forklifts, stackers, Reach Trucks, Order Pickers, Walkie Riders and pump trucks to ensure equipment is in safe and proper working condition
Preventative Maintenance: Develop and follow a scheduled maintenance plan to prevent mechanical problems.
Maintain records of all maintenance and repairs performed for each piece of equipment.
Act promptly to address breakdowns or emergency situations involving forklift trucks. Reassembly of machines after the completion of repair or maintenance work
Sound knowledge of utilizing electronic manuals, use of digital voltage meters and applicable diagnostic software for repairing/servicing of material handling equipment.
Maintain an organized inventory of spare parts and supplies.
College diploma and/or completion of a trade school certification or equivalent work experience.
~3-5 years’ experience as an auto, forklift, heavy equipment or truck and coach mechanic.
~ Demonstrated knowledge of mechanical, Hydraulic and electrical systems of battery and Internal Combustion engine powered material handling equipment
~ Knowledge of electrical and electronic principles
~ Knowledge of the use of electrical/electronic diagnostic tools/measurements
~ Ability to be flexible and work in a fast paced and changing environment
~ Must have prior experience with using computers and possess basic computer skills
~ Demonstrate good housekeeping practices at all times to help maintain a safe work area


The Mechanic will work in a Distribution Centre environment and would be exposed to varying temperatures and subjected to dust, dirt, grease and noise levels ranging from moderate to loud. All tools and equipment required to perform all required maintenance and repairs are owned and provided by the Mechanic
