CANAROPA is a national builder’s hardware company in Montreal (QC) with branches across Canada. We currently have an opportunity for an energetic, self-motivated, responsible individual to join our team as an Electronic Lock Specialist.

SUMMARY

The role of the Electronic Lock Specialist is to develop e-device products, notably electromechanical locks and related devices.

The Specialist must have an understanding of Architectural Hardware, Electromechanical Hardware, comprising of knowledge & familiarity of 1) mini & micro-circuit boards, including micro SoC;
device controllers;
relays;
switches;
actuators;
sensors;
micro solenoids and motors & gearing;
2) Software developmentkit (SDK):
a collection of libraries, APIs, documentation, utilities;
SDK’s Physical Demo Kit(SDK DK);
and debugging familiarity.

The expectation is also for this specialist to translate information from end-users, customers, architects, designers, developers and published sources to product requirements and solution expectations. They must have the ability to define a product roadmap and aptitude to develop an achievable action plan with budgets and timelines. They need to possess the leadership skillsets to guide a team of individuals to successfully execute the development plan.

OBJECTIVES

Step 1 - Produce and document Specifications:

· Mechanical Hardware

· E-Hardware (all physical electro components)

· Electromechanical Function (interoperability of entire functions, independent sub-functions and independent function operation(s))

· Mapping of the various E-Hardware Firmware, including but not limited to Control Circuit, Motor Circuit and the ones contained in SoC

Step 2 - Create and document Testing procedures:

· Mechanical and e-Hardware

· Step-by-step testing protocols

· Set up lab and equipment for testing

· Ability to work with testing agencies to meet regulatory requirements and ensure compliance with radio frequency emission standards in Canada and the USA

Step 3 - Manage Design changes:

· If changes are needed to be made for e-Hardware, familiarity to follow, existing or future versions to any all-changes to interactive e-components. The ability to read and produce Wire Schematics, map out and/build PCB assemblies

· Step-by-step testing protocols

· Set up lab and equipment for testing

Step 4 - e-Architecture Design Lead:

· Ability to source software companies to help develop a custom app.

· Ability to facilitate the development of “House app” and/or certification of NFC electromechanical device to bridge usage for secure Apple and Google Wallet “keys”

COMPETENCIES

The ideal candidate shall be technically inclined and able to work autonomously and as part of a team. They must be conscientious, attentive to detail and possess a sound understanding of business processes and concepts. They must have experience in mapping requirements to design specifications (mechanical, electrical, electronic, e-hardware, firmware, software, wireless broadband, etc.). They must be resourceful and able to devise creative solutions to problems. They are proficient with Project Management tools, MS 365 Suite, especially in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint—experience navigating through distribution ERP and CRM systems, mining databases, and generating business reports.

CHARACTERISTICS

The successful incumbent is technically inclined, creative, highly analytical, well organized, an effective communicator (written and verbal), and goal/objective oriented. They must be capable of thinking strategically and enabling the company to achieve its product objectives and sales growth. They need to additional possess effective time management skills.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

A relevant post-secondary certificate or degree and 5 years of experience in a similar role are required.
