*Buy Low Foods *is currently seeking an experienced *Department Manager* for our store located in *Burnaby (Parkcrest), BC*. This role is full-time and reports to the Store Manager.We are looking for a strong leader who has a passion for fresh food and who can efficiently oversee the daily operations of the Meat Department in terms of staffing, ordering, and driving sale through customer service, merchandising, and ensuring product quality.*Job Duties and Responsibilities:*· Provide supervision to department staff to ensure quality customer service· In working with the Store Manager, maximize sales and gross profit through effective and creative merchandising. Present a neat, fresh, and appealing display case.· Maintain department inventory by placing product orders regularly while adhering to departmental budgets and achieve shrink targets· Interview, hire, train, and mentor staff members as needed· Create the weekly department work schedule· Wrap and package prepared meats, slice and grind meat occasionally· Ensure all prepared items are properly labeled and rotated to ensure freshness and quality· Handle customer inquiries, requests and complaints in a prompt, professional and effective manner· Keep all equipment clean, well maintained and fully operational meat department and backroom area· Comply with the Company’s established Health and Safety and Food Safety policies and ensure that staff members are also adhering to these policies· Responsible for ensuring accuracy of store signage with regards to pricing· Liaise with the store manager and meat department staff to address any concerns, discuss upcoming ads / promotions, cross merchandising, etc.*Skills and Qualifications:*· Previous supervisory experience, preferably in meat, deli or a food environment· Able to lead a team in an enthusiastic and positive manner· Experience in effective merchandising that drives sales· Have experience ordering and maintaining department stock· Superb customer service skills with a desire to provide customers with a great shopping experience· Exceptional leadership and organizational skills· Outstanding communication, interpersonal and conflict resolution skills· Knowledge of health and safety legislation, policies and practices· Ability to work in a fast-paced environment under pressure· Able to maintain a professional demeanor under stressful situations· Flexibility to work a variety of hours which include days, evenings, weekends and stat holidays*Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities*· Ability to perform physically demanding, repetitive physical tasks for extended periods of time· Job requires manual dexterity, attention to detail, hand-eye co-ordination· Walking and standing for extended periods including bending, twisting, crouching and kneeling at times· Physical ability to stand, lift, and handle up to 50 pounds on a regular basis· Cold environment, noisy, with some strong odours*Our commitment to you:*· Competitive wages with starting rates based on experience· Yearly bonus incentives· Room for advancement - all new opportunities posted internally first· Company matched RRSP Program· Employee and Family Assistance Program· Comprehensive benefits package for full-time positions including Dental, Extended Health, Vision, Life & Disability insuranceIf you feel that you possess the knowledge, skills and abilities mentioned above then we would love to hear from you*How to apply:*_*Online:*_ Respond to this job ad to apply in confidence directly to the Hiring Team.Please include a cover letter including your wage expectations & any restrictions for work hoursWe would like to thank everyone for applying, however due to the volume of applications received only those moving forward to the interview process will be contacted.Job Type: Full-timePay: From $21.00 per hourBenefits:* Dental care* Employee assistance program* Extended health care* Paid time off* RRSP match* Store discountFlexible language requirement:* French not requiredSchedule:* 8 hour shift* Day shift* Evening shift* Morning shift* Weekends as neededExperience:* Meat department management: 1 year (required)Licence/Certification:* Permanent residency, Canadian Citizen, Work Permit, (required)Work Location: In person
