We are seeking a motivated Electrical Engineer to join our dynamic team and play a key role in shaping the future of our technology.
We are looking for an Intermediate Electrical Engineer to work with us on a full-time, 6-month contract to hire basis. Contract may be renewable depending on project outcomes.
Position Overview
As an Electrical / electronics Engineer, you will be responsible for developing next generation laser and optical scanning systems. You will be integrating electrical components, managing system timing and control, and handling high-speed data capture and digitization. Your expertise in electronics, embedded hardware, electrical engineering, and test equipment will be crucial to ensuring the reliability and performance of our systems and projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design electronics for control of remote sensing equipment. Create electrical interfaces to devices such as amplifiers, lasers, environmental controllers, etc.
- Design power systems for in field and lab operations including DC-DC, AC-DC, breakers, monitoring, and diagnostics
- System Timing, Timing Generator, and Control: Develop and manage system timing (high speed clock signals), timing generators, and control mechanisms to ensure precise operation.
- System electrical interface design for and electrical and data signals between modules and sub systems
- Assembly and testing of electronics, sub systems, cables, and connectors
- Embedded Software / Firmware Development: Design, develop, and maintain embedded software and firmware for various applications.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Analog electronics including power supplies, filters, and monitoring
- Digital electronics including embed microcontrollers
- PCB Design and Fabrication of electronic boards and embedded sub-systems
- Communication busses such as UART, I2C, SPI, and Ethernet/IP
- Electrical Test Equipment: Familiarity with electrical test equipment and methodologies.
- Hardware timing including precision clocks / oscillators, triggers, and timed events.
- Programming: Proficiency in Python, C, and C++.
- FPGA Development: Experience with FPGA development, including Xilinx tools and platforms.
- Education: BSc. in Electrical or Computer Engineering or a related field. Advanced degrees or relevant certifications are a plus.
- Experience: 5-10 years of experience in electrical engineering, preferably in a testing or R&D environment.
- Analytical Abilities: Proven ability to analyze complex data sets, identify issues, and develop solutions.
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Problem-Solving: Strong troubleshooting skills and a proactive approach to resolving technical challenges.
- Teamwork: Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
Preferred Skills:
- Familiarity with remote sensing, LiDAR, RF systems, or lasers.
- Experience with software development including C, C++, and Python
- Knowledge of industry standards and best practices in testing and measurement.
- Awareness of emerging trends and technologies in remote sensing and LiDAR.
