The Role:


Down Smash Studios® is in search of an Unreal Engine Game Developer (Software Engineer) to join us and take part in building a top quality Unreal Engine 4 game. The ideal candidate is a hands-on Unreal Engine 4 developer with a passion for building and playing video games, with years of experience and knowledge in the gaming space. The candidate must be at ease working in an Agile Environment (Scrum) and be self-managing. This role is full-time and works directly with the CTO and reports to the President.

 

Only local candidates legally eligible to work in Canada will be considered.


Key Responsibilities and Expectations:

  • Work closely with the CTO to find effective solutions to complex programming challenges
  • Cross-functional collaboration with Leadership, the Design Team, and QA
  • Write efficient and effective code for Unreal Engine 4 concurrently with the development team (game content, events, artificial intelligence, etc.)
  • Analyze, provide feedback, and estimate Unreal Engine 4 Projects in an Agile Environment (Scrum)
  • Manage code within a Git repository and pass regular Code Reviews


Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada
  • Minimum requirement includes existing and proven Unreal Engine 4 knowledge
  • Hands-on experience working with technologies like Unreal Engine 4 (required) and Git
  • Proficient with C++ and Unreal Blueprints
  • Demonstrated game development experience: completed or in-progress personal projects are highly valued
  • Experience with Agile (Scrum) development Methodologies
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or equivalent learning/experience
