Our client in Waterloo Region is looking for a Product Estimator with strong Customer Service skills to join their team in a full-time permanent role

In this key customer-facing role, the employer is seeking an energetic and knowledgeable Product Estimator and Customer Service Representative for their growing business. The Product Estimator/CSR has responsibility for building and maintaining strong customer relationships by acting as the primary liaison between customers and internal departments.


This role provides product and service information, prepares product estimates and quotations, and addresses any issues that arise, in a timely manner, to ensure customer satisfaction. Encompassing estimating, sales and product management functions, this position is responsible for the full project cycle—from RFQ through to delivery and post-delivery support.


Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Estimating: Develop pricing for non-standard and standard products.
  • Customer Service: Provide comprehensive support from initial inquiry through post-delivery, serving as the main contact for customer and distribution partner communication. Manage customer support via phone and email, ensuring timely responses any way a customer reaches out to us.
  • Order Management: Oversee order tracking, discrepancy resolution, collections, freight coordination, and expediting to ensure smooth processing and customer experience.
  • Production Cycle Coordination: Manage orders through the production cycle, collaborating with all departments to meet customer requirements and delivery schedules.
  • Product Management Support: Assist in product-related activities and initiatives.
  • Quote and Order Management: submit cost estimates and quotes, review POs for accuracy, and manage the order process (tracking, discrepancy resolution, collections and expediting).
  • Sales and Business Development: provide support for new business development initiatives to establish and drive new business.
  • Product and Inventory Support: develop quotes for nonstandard items.
  • Product Management and Sales Support: provide support for one-off projects and new product development, marketing material and other customer-facing literature.


Education, Experience and Abilities:

  • Estimating: 3 to 5 years’ experience in the metal fabrication industry.
  • Job Shop Experience: Experience in a job shop environment is preferred.
  • Technical Drawing Interpretation: Ability to read and interpret technical drawings accurately.
  • Microsoft Office Proficiency: Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, MS Teams, and OneNote).
  • Education: Post-secondary education in an engineering discipline (college or university) is preferred.
  • Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with structural steel is an asset.
  • Project Management: Experience in project management is an asset.
  • Customer-Centric Communication: Demonstrates a strong desire to build positive customer relationships and exercise sound judgment in customer communications.
  • Project Completion and Efficiency: Drives projects to completion, proactively identifying areas for increased efficiency and opportunities.
  • Prioritization and Scheduling: Skilled in prioritizing activities and managing schedules to meet objectives.
  • Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication.
  • Collaboration and Teamwork: Works effectively with diverse internal teams and external contacts to achieve shared goals.
