Location: Fort McMurray, Alberta

Rotation: 4/3 rotation (10-hour days)

Accommodations & Flights: Provided from Calgary or Edmonton


Project Overview:

We are seeking a highly qualified Mechanical Engineer for a 6–12 month contract to assist with the design, specification, and installation of pumping systems for a key Oil & Gas client in Fort McMurray. This contract opportunity involves the development of standards for 28 pumping systems, ensuring compliance with operational and safety standards while streamlining designs for future projects.


Key Responsibilities:

As part of the project, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

  • Pump Layout Specifications: Design and document detailed layout specifications for each of the 28 pumping systems.
  • Standard Pad Construction Drawings: Develop standardized drawings for pad construction that meet industry best practices and regulatory requirements.
  • Pump Installation Process (ITPs): Create Installation Test Plans (ITPs) detailing the processes and quality controls for pump installation.
  • Bill of Materials (BOM): Develop a comprehensive Bill of Materials (BOM) for each system, identifying all necessary components, material specifications, and procurement needs.


Qualifications:


  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Mechanical Engineering, registered with APEGA (Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta).
  • Proven experience in pumping system design, specification, and installation within the Oil & Gas industry.
  • Strong knowledge of industry standards and best practices for pumping systems, including relevant codes and regulations.
  • Experience in developing pad construction drawings and Installation Test Plans (ITPs).
  • Ability to develop detailed Bill of Materials (BOMs) for complex mechanical systems.
  • Boots on the ground approach: ability to work on-site and oversee project execution.
  • Strong communication and team collaboration skills, particularly in a cross-functional, multi-disciplinary setting.


Rotation and Logistics:

  • 4/3 Rotation (4 days on-site, 3 days off-site).
  • 10-hour workdays.
  • Accommodation and flights provided from Calgary or Edmonton.
